Most of us have fast fashion items filling our closets. Wire hangers, plastic ones — they serve their purpose, but do not exactly encourage care. When I discovered that satin hanger cover, it occurred to me to treat my wardrobe better. Not because it’s stylish, but because caring for things is the correct thing to do.
A Tiny Time Capsule
I didn’t use the satin hanger cover from the beginning. Staring at it in disbelief as if it were a sort of artifact. But I tossed it on a wooden hanger and threw one of my favorite vintage blouses on top. It felt right.
These pieces are vanishing. But if you do encounter one of them — at a garage sale, in a box of old linens, hidden in a thrift store bin — grab it. Use it. Or at least share it with someone and recount the story. There is an entire philosophy behind that soft satin.
