A mysterious photo that intrigues the internet
It all started when a young man took a picture above the sea, thinking he was simply capturing a pretty landscape. It was only after looking at the image more closely that he noticed a strange shape in the clouds and the light.
The silhouette appeared to represent a large statue with outstretched arms, immediatey reminding some people of the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil. The resemblance was striking enough that the photo quickly went viral on social media.
Very quickly, everyone offered their own interpretation. Some saw it as a sign, others as a spectacular natural phenomenon, and still others as simply an optical illusion.
